The park is also home to populations of chimpanzees and numerous other primate species. In total, it shelters an impressive 95 species of mammals and over 600 recorded species of birds, making it a premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts and ornithologists alike.
Within the park lie two magnificent lakes—Lake Edward and Lake George—connected by the 40-kilometre-long Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway serves as a lifeline for many animals, particularly hippos, crocodiles and elephants, which can often be seen cooling off along its banks or wading through its waters. The Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise offers visitors an unforgettable experience, providing close-up encounters with these animals in their natural habitat while surrounded by stunning views of the lakes and the surrounding savannah.

Itinerary Details
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After your morning breakfast, meet and greet with our company guide for abriefing before setting off to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will then start
your journey driving through the Kampala- Masaka-Mbarara Highway. Our first stop over is in Kayabwe town at the Uganda Equator. Feel free to take photos at the Equator line and have a stretch.
After a break, proceed with the journey. We shall have a brief stop over at the famous Lukaya market. Lukaya market is one food market you can’t bypass. This stopover is famous for its yummy & mouth watering roasted meats, chicken, gonja, cassava & a cocktail of assorted drinks. We shall then proceed with our journey to Mbarara town where we have another stop over for Lunch. After Lunch, we set off for the final part of the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will check in to your hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning Game drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, we shall head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains to see various animals. Kasenyi Plains is the best site for a rewarding game drive in the park since it hosts populations of wildlife and acts as a breeding ground for the Uganda kobs. The Uganda Kobs attract many carnivals to this place as their favourite prey. The Game Drive lasts 3-5 hours after which you will head back to your hotel for Lunch and some rest.
In the afternoon, transfer to the pier for the boat cruise experience on the Kazinga channel. The cruise exposes you to another game-viewing adventure on the shores of the channel. Many animals congregate here to take water and quench off their thirst. Enjoy sights of the hippos and Nile crocodiles wallowing at the shores of the basin. It is of great importance to note that the Kazinga channel hosts the biggest populations of hippos in the world. Later
return to your hotel and have dinner later.
Day 3: Salt mining at Lake Katwe and Departure back to Kampala
Wake up and delight in a leisurely breakfast at the hotel as you enjoy the intriguing beauty of the park. After break fast, Visit Lake Katwe for Salt mining experience.
Lake Katwe, located in south western Uganda near the park’s boundary, isaremarkable volcanic crater lake renowned for its traditional salt mining practices. For centuries, local communities have relied on the lake’s highly saline waters to produce salt using age-old methods passed down through generations. Miners create small evaporation pans along the lake’s edges, where they extract rock salt, edible salt, and fine table salt—each serving as an important source of livelihood.
Beyond its economic value, Lake Katwe holds great cultural significance, representing resilience and heritage. Visitors can explore the site through guided tours, witnessing the manual salt extraction process and engaging with local miners. The shimmering salt pans set against the dramatic crater landscape offer an authentic and educational experience, blending natural beauty with human ingenuity and tradition.
After the Experience, you will begin your journey back to Kampala /Entebbe.
