2-Day Lake Mburo National Park Safari
Lake Mburo National Park is a stunning gem located in western Uganda, between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks. Still, one of the most scenic and easily accessible, making it a perfect stop over for travellers heading to or from other destinations, such as Bwindi or Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The park is characterised by rolling hills, open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and five beautiful lakes, with Lake Mburo being the largest. It is home to a rich
diversity of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, topis, buffaloes, hippos, leopards, hyenas, and over 350 species of birds. Uniquely, it is the only park in Uganda where impalas can be found and one of the few with zebras.
Activities include game drives, guided nature walks, boat cruises on Lake Mburo, horseback safaris, and cycling tours—offering close encounters with

Itinerary Details
Day 1: Travel to Lake Mburo & Boat Cruise
Early in the morning the driver/Guide will meet you at your accommodation. You will have a briefing before you start on your Journey heading towards the Kampala Masaka Highway.
Uganda Equator in Kayabwe: Our first stop a will be at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe.The Uganda Equator in Kayabwe, along the Kampala–Masaka highway, marks the exact pointwhere the Northern and Southern Hemispheres meet. Visitors can stand on both hemispheres, witness water experiments demonstrating the Coriolis effect, take memorable photos, and explore nearby craft shops and local eateries, making it a unique blend of science, culture, and travel experience.
Lukaya Market: We shall have a brief Stop over at Lukaya Market. This market, located along the Kampala–Masaka highway, is a lively roadside market famous for its delicious roasted meats, chicken, plantain, cassava, and refreshing drinks. It’s a popular stop for travelers to enjoy authentic Ugandan street food, interact with local vendors, and experience the vibrant culture of roadside trading.
Afternoon Boat Cruise
Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your hotel to settle in and get ready for the afternoon boat cruise. You will the proceed to Enjoy a tranquil boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds in their natural habitat. Drift along the calm waters while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding savannah, rolling hills, and lush vegetation. The cruise offers a unique perspective of the park’s diverse ecosystems and provides excellent opportunities for wildlife photography and close encounters with aquatic and semi-aquatic animals.
Day 2: Game Drive and Nature Walk or Cycling safari
After an early morning breakfast, We shall Embark on an exciting game drive at Lake Mburo National Park, renowned for its rolling hills, open savannah, and acacia woodlands. Witness a variety of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, buffaloes, and numerous bird species, all thriving in their natural habitat. Early morning and late afternoon drives are ideal for observing animals at their most active, offering unforgettable encounters and excellent opportunities for photography in this scenic, easily accessible park.
In the early afternoon, you may choose between a guided cycling safari or a guided nature walk, according to your preference.
